A Glitzy Bookworm-ette Birthday

This past Saturday was my daughters 8th birthday party and if you've been following along, you know the theme was "Glitzy Bookworm-ette". Tahlia LOVES to read! She's a real girly girl as well and that's where the "glitzy" part comes in. I added glitter where ever I could and bling to the favors. Who says bookworms can't be glam, right?!?!
My inspiration started with a Ann Kelle fabric sample I seen on Pinterest. That fabric set the tone for the whole party. The colors were vibrant and fun. I was able to find the fabric print in a digital format and that led me to create all the paper crafts needed throughout the party. The wormette graphic used throughout the party was designed for me by the fabulous Michele of Intrigue Design Studio. This woman is awesome! With that I designed all the paper products, like toppers, labels, dessert tags, table signs, cake topper....etc.
I had craft activities such as decorating your own book bag and making bracelets. The kids had a great time and had her friends asking if they could take books home. LOL. I hope you enjoy our celebration of books and my take on a glitzy bookworm party.

The birthday girl!
The dessert table: Used a bookcase as the backdrop and filled it with Tahlia's books. She has a ton, so filling it was not an issue. I also made an overlay with argyle fabric.Custom wreath by who else but Natalie of The Knock Knock Factory. The wormette graphic, which you will be seeing throughout the party was designed for me by the AMAZING Michele of Intrigue Design Studio.Cookie tubes are my new fave!!Glittered up Nerds on a stick..... way cool! :)
I served up tiny boxes of gummy worms, adorned with black glittered ribbon and rhinestones.Gotta have Smarties!
Glittered caramel apples by Roni's Sugar Creations. Beautiful!!
(Note the book page covered boxes. Mod Podge baby!) Those are rice crispy "worms", wrapped with fruit roll ups and sitting on leaves cut from book pages.
Simple cake with the cake topper I whipped up.Set out fabric markers and fabric gel pens for the girls to decorate their own book bags. Also bracelet making.
Big sister helped with the bracelet making.
Balloons in the jumper (idea I borrowed from The Purple Pug). T'was a good time!
The dramatic table scape!Centerpieces: ADORABLE plush wormettes, custom made by Cute4Sale. Sat them on a stack of books and wrapped with ribbon. Love. They still made room for spaghetti, I mean "worms"! LOL.
I set out small vases for the rest of the tables, on a small stack of books. I also made table runners with the Ann Kelle fabric for all the tables. Each place setting had a pencil favor box. I designed these labels for each one. Cute right?Favors: Book markers, glitter pencils, swirl lollipops, silly bands, roll on glitter tubes, fake bling, sequin head bands (from Tini Posh) and nerd glasses I bedazzled.
Had to shoot a close up of the book markers! Now this is how you eat cake! LOL.
Mama and the birthday girl!!

Such a fun party! I love that it focuses on reading and not princesses or Disney pop stars. :)
