A Totally RAD, 80's Bridal Shower

My good friend Claudia, is getting married at the end of this month. A couple of months ago her sister, Vanessa, contacted me about her sisters upcoming bridal shower. She had an idea of an 80's themed shower but needed some ideas as to how to put it together with out being TOO cheesy, after all, it's still a bridal shower. I'm not going to lie, this was kind of hard! LOL. How do you tone down the "cheese" factor for an 80's theme?!?! Basically the invitation I was making was going to set the tone (no pressure, right? lol) but I thought that bringing in some of Madonna's style would be a great way to do that. I ran with the idea of tons of black lace ribbon, accessories and neon of course. It was definitely a team effort. Thank you Vanessa for trusting me to help put together this special day for your sister :)

Here is the invitation I created.

This tablescape was inspired by an image I seen on Pinterest. (here is the original source)

I made these drink charms to add on the glasses, which Vanessa spray painted with chalkboard paint.

I made black lace bows to add to the centerpieces Vanessa put together.
 Place settings!

We had the idea to use a foam shaped heart and bells. Vanessa did an amazing job painting and adding the black lace!

Dessert table. Backdrop: Black lace fabric

A last minute idea: While shopping for an outfit at Goodwill, I remember I had seen VHS cassettes on Lynlee's Petite Cakes, 80's party post. I thought it would be great to have 80's love story movies. I was so happy find these!!

 More 80's movies!

 Cupcake toppers I made
I took a crack at "making" some desserts as well. Dipped these oreos and tied black lace ribbon to each, then posted on this base I made up.
The ideas for these favor boxes came from an image I seen on Martha Stewarts website. I also added the favor tags.

I hung one of Vanessa's hearts over the dessert table, as well as the banner I made, saying "Like A New Bride".... heh! :) Yes, there is more black lace in the banner! I told you I went crazy! LOL.

Photo props I purchased from Paper & Cake.

It was a surprise party and boy was she surprised!!

And now it was time for HER to get an 80's make-over! Vanessa put together her outfit and she did GOOD!

How amazing does she look?!?!?! TOTALLY AWESOME!!

 Everyone looked gnarly!!

I made this poster for a fun bridal shower game.

We had a mini RAD chick join us! Too cute!

Love this cake from the local bakery!

Vanessa and her sister Claudia (bride to be).... Beautiful!

Everyone really went all out on their outfits! So fun!!
