A Lil' Monsters 2nd Birthday Party

Warning: It's a LONG one!
WOOH! Sad that the party is over but glad that the work is over! This Saturday we celebrated my sons 2nd birthday and I'm so happy to report that it was A SUCCESS. I gotta say, this was actually better than Nate's HUGE 1st birthday party. He was still so young then but this time around he ran, played with his buddies and jumped to his hearts content in the jumper. I also set up a small ball pit to satisfy his ball obsession and he, along with all the kids TOTALLY enjoyed it. If you want a good party tip, HAVE A BALL PIT..... winner every time! I also put more hand made work into it and even though it was a lot of work, I'm happy to know that it really made it "one of a kind". When I decided on a Monsters theme, I knew that I still wanted it to be bright and cheery and definitely NOT dark and scary. The color scheme I chose was perfect for that! I have to add that I felt like freakin' ROYALTY, with all the OOAK, custom goodies that I ordered from some FABULOUS creative gals. They were made just for ME and you haven't seen them anywhere YET! ;) So you SEE.....ROYALTY, hehe!! Put your shades on people, it was a sunny day in Cali! :)

J. At Your Service said...

Thank you Nicole! I will actually be posting photos of some steps. Not the nest tutorial but I'll do my best to describe it.
@Melissa- Thanks so much! :)
@Mom of Monsters- I purchased them at the Container Store. But they were a seasonal item. I believe you can find them online but they run pricey online.

I came across your party post as I was searching for ideas for my son's Monster party in June. I love the way you put everything together and will be "borrowing" a few of your ideas! Did you sell the photo booth?? I was wondering if you wanted to sell a couple other things too. My son's name is actually Nathan too so I would love the Happy birthday banner. Just a thought. :) Get back to me if you are interested!

Kameron said...

I thought I commented before but I don't see my comment, so I'll try again! I found your post while looking for ideas for my son's party in June. His name is Nathan too so I would be inerested in buying the banner you made and also the photo booth if no one bought it! Please let me know if you're interested in selling anything! kscampoli@gmail.com

I love birthdays oh so very much....that being said, every year since I was 13, I've had a party on my birthday which last the whole week of my birthday because I could never get anyone organized for my actual birthday or it fell on a school day or something. It makes my birthday week pretty awesome.

Anonymous said...

hi - love this birthday theme. can you please let me know where you bought those green one eyed monster cups?
thanks

I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am that I found your site. My husband and I had our first kid (a little boy!) in February and I've been DREAMING of what his first birthday will be like next year. We're over halfway there (YIKES!) and I was getting worried since I couldn't find anything that matched what was in my head. Then I stumbled across your party and it is PERFECT. Oh my goodness I'm so glad we're not friends in real life (not an insult, I promise!) because I am about to use *SO MUCH* from this AMAZING party! You are so talented! Thank you for posting the photo booth tutorial, too. You have truly found your calling, J!!

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with dots-n-stripes! One question: Where can I find Giant size round balloons like the orange one your son is holding in the photo? Please let me know if possible! :)
Thanks again, so inspiring!

J. At Your Service said...

Dots N Stripes, what a sweet comment! Thank you so much! I would LOVE to see pics of your party when it's done :)
@Tiffany- Thank you as well! The giant balloons I purchased from balloonwarehouse.com but I've noticed that they sell them in select Party City stores.

I am planning a Monster themed birthday party for my (soon to be) 2 year old son, and I absolutely love EVERYTHING about this one. :)

So I have a few questions:
Where did you get the buckets that the monster suckers are in?
Where did you get the monster bowls and popsicle holders?
Where did you find the "space gun" type water gun? Where did you find the monster color foam things? Also, where did you find the bright green pool and bright colored balls?

Hope to hear back soon! I'm addicted to your blog. Your ideas and creativity is AMAZING! :)

J. At Your Service said...

Thank you Heather!
The containers for the monster suckers were from the Dollar Tree. The monster bowls were from the Container Store (seasonal item)and monster popsicle molds, some I got at Home Goods and some at Bed Bath and Beyond. Space guns are from Orientaltrading.com, monster coloring foams are from Michaels. The pool and balls were from Target. Hope this helps. I'd love to see how it all turns out. Please share pics! :) jatyourservice@yahoo.com

Heather said...

Thank you so much! It definitely helps a lot! The birthday party is not until June, I'm just getting a head start. :) If i can figure out how to share some photos I will be sure to do so.

Holy cow that party is amazing! Amazing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cake topper. Did you make that yourself? That's the sort of topper that I'd like to make for my daughter's party next month. Did you just use cardstock? Is one stick holding it all up ok?

I can't wait to look around your blog some more!

J. At Your Service said...

@sweet and lovely crafts- thank you! Yes, I made the topper and it is out of cardstock. I sell them in my Etsy shop now.

Awesome! I'm actually doing a monster bash for my sons 1st birthday at the end of this month. I was wondering where you got the fuzzy fabric? I found places online but they want almost 20.00 for a yard..plus shipping! Hope to hear back in time! :) I'll have pics up of my little guys birthday on my Pinterest. If you would like to check it out!
