If you have older kids like I do, you know how difficult it can be to get them to do chores. My girls are at that age where they need to contribute to the family chores. I usually only get on them about their bedroom and even just that, is VERY difficult! They have every excuse in the book, as to why they didn't do their chores. I've posted notes, as reminders. I've drawn charts/schedules. I've purchased dry erase charts and made my own chore charts. I've tried to come up with some kind of reward system but then it gets forgotten! It's an endless battle! So as I went on a Target run this week, I found what I hope is a solution to my troubles. A dry erase board (like I've had before) but made as a chore chart already. It also has a reward type system, using stars and the appropriate spaces for them. I thought it was really cute and I'm hoping that it helps even a little, in getting my girls to make their chores part of their routine. I'll try anything at this point!

What the F is this?!?!?! .... "Oh here's a sticker for cleaning your room" ....
Why don't you just be a normal Mexican mom and say "If you don't clean this damn room ima whoop yo a**!"
Do not under estimate the power of a leather belt!
I'm just sayin'...
Because I'm not like YOUR mother (like u are)! Cleaning always had to come with threats, growing up. They dont get something every time they clean their room, it's going to be based on a wider time frame. And HOPEFULLY, they'll get use to it and they will just make it part of their daily routine!! THAT's WHAT THE F, THAT IS! You tell me, if threats work with D, later when he's older! And when it doesn't, please be sure to tell me, so I can roll on the floor laughing! :)
BTW, do you not hear me yell, when you're at my house every weekend?!?! Threats don't work with these girls. I'm not scary enough apparently! Go figure....
I used a chart like this a few years ago with Mikey and Joey, and it definately helped them understand the concept of house chores. I think I might pick one of these boards up for Benny, he could definately use some help in this area. I have to admit I do have to yell every now and again, but I think it's mostly because I'm a clean freak, and messes stress me out, a concept my boys also have learned to understand lol.
