Mary's Pizza Shack Pomegranate Martini

On mine and hubby's 5 yr anniversary, a couple of years ago, we celebrated in Sonoma California. It was one of the best trips we have ever taken. The vineyards were amazing and the tastings were even better. On one of our nights there, we decided to pick up our dinner and take it back to our hotel room. We stopped at Mary's Pizza Shack, in the Sonoma Plaza. Well besides having the most delicious pizza, they have a full bar (most places in Sonoma have full bars actually). So of course we sat at the bar, while we waited for our pizza and boy did we get a pleasant treat. The bartender suggested we try their award winning Pomegranate Martini. It has a peachy/pink color, different from most pomegranate martini's but with a splash of Sonoma's own Gloria Ferrer Brut, I can see why it's award winning. By the way, I highly recommend Gloria Ferrer Brut, chilled and by itself, it's delicious! I usually make these or have the champagne by itself, for our anniversary since our trip. Last year I was pregnant and well, no martini or champagne for me :( So this year I'm going to make them for Valentine's AND our anniversary. I wanted to share this drink with everyone, to enjoy!
1.5 oz of Vodka (they make it with Ketal One Vodka)
.5 oz of Pomegranate Syrup from Sonoma Syrup Company
.5 oz of lemon or lime juice (or a combination)
Splash of sparkling wine (Gloria Ferrer Brut)
(Bevmo $15.98)
Combine first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass. Finish with a splash of sparkling wine and a lemon twist.
